BRIEF LIFE IN AEOLOS

I worked one month in Aeolos, one part of TUI TRAVEL PLC

What did I visited  with TUI Travel PLC?

During my European Training in Sustainable Tourism I could visit different excursions as Troddos&Kikkos (22/08/2012), Lefkosia (24/08/2012) and Love Cyprus (30/08/2012).

22 August 2012 Troddos & Kikkos

The first excursion has been Troodos & Kikkos.  During the excursion I was my first time to go in those places  in the same time tourist and worker. I travel with Simona my collegue, eithteen guests from some hotel from Paphos and there are also Kate (the local guide) and Chris (the driver). We went in differentes places and we had saw differentes little villages and Kate has explain us the typical foods and local products or local monuments about them. We had also taste the cypriot breakfast in Salami about hallumi, bread, tomato and typical jam of different flavors.

During the travel, we have saw one lake and the driver stopped the bus for taking to guests a picture of this place. After it, when we come back in the bus, the local guide said and show us typical herbs from Cyprus.

The next stop was in Venetian Bridge for taking a picture and relaxing a little bit from the travel.

The last stop before the luch has been in Kikkos  to see the monastery and also the fountain of water. Kate said us the history of the monastery and we have seen also the local shop for buying typical foods and drinks.

For lunch, we have eaten in NERAIDA familiar restaurant where we could eat typical foods from Cyprus. We have eaten typical food as halloumi, vegetable, pasta, chicken in a place inside the nature and we have drink also typical red wine and cypriot coffee.

The last stop was in the family firm about herbs, spices, teas and tea and we have tried some lemon teas. After this drink we come back in Paphos.

24 August 2012 Lefkosia

During the Lefkosia excursion I travel with SImona and in the bus there were Eva (the local guide) and Ioannis (the driver) and other maybe 50 guests from some hotel of Paphos.

The travel was long and we looked just the essential place as Monument of Freedom, archdiocese, church of St. John, typical street near Tourism Office. We have eaten in one of restaurant in the city center. After lunch we have walken in Ledra Street and we have seen the mosque in the turkish zone. After it we come back in Paphos.

In the Turkish zone we have also seen the BUYUK HAN.

 

Many years ago the BUYUK HAN was an inn but now it is a cultural center where there are also some souvenirs shop for the tourists.

 

  

I think that in Lefkosia we could see other place in the turkish zone but I understand that the time was not sooo much so this is normal. Maybe the travel is so long because there are many guests from Limassol and other little village.

30 August 2012 Love Cyprus

For the last trip we travel with a little bus so we were Simona and I, Kate (the local guide), the driver and eighteen guests.

During the excursion we visited Archeological Park of Courion and la maison di Eustolio and the anphitheatre of Curion.

The second stop was in the castle of Kolossi where we were escalate in up to take a picture. In the out of the castle there was a little bar where we could buy local orange fruits.

The three stop was in a small city where we had eat a really breakfast in the oil village: olive bread, jamps and orange juice.

After it, we have seen Omodos, a small city in Troodos and so nice and so sustainable where we saw many wine press.  

The lunch stop has been to Agio Therapos and we lunched in a familiar tavern and we eated a typicall lunch from Cyprus and I tasted for the first time in my life a Cypriot sweet ladies’ finger soooo good. The place was so nice and so sustainable, large place with many pictures and old tools. Before to go away from Agios Terapos, we have walked in this small village to see a typical church.  In the picture it is possible to see a typical place where the protagonist is the three of wine.

The last stop it has been in Erimi in the wine museum where each guest could taste different wine (cummandaria typical wine from Troodos area and other typical local wines).
